If you have ever stared at a blank bar in a jazz chart, felt your throat lock up, and thought, “There is absolutely no way I can make up notes on the fly,” I want you to take a deep breath.
Improvisation isn’t a magical gift reserved for a chosen few. It’s a game of beautiful, creative freedom—and yes, a little bit of glorious chaos! You don't need a perfect voice or flawless instrumental technique to start; you just need a willingness to play.
Enjoying Music Improvisation (affectionately known as EMI) is currently being written, edited, and fueled by a steady stream of coffee and jazz records. It is being designed for both vocalists and instrumentalists to help you break free from the cage of the written page.
I am balancing a few different book projects right now, and I want to write what helps you most.
